I was part of this discussion a few years ago when we had it with no real outcome.
Today however if all major Chinese exchanges are to adopt a new primary unit, then perhaps it can have some traction…
So here is my argument for going right to bits instead of mBits:
Bits:
100 Satoshi = 1 bit
100 penny = 1 dollar
It takes full advantage of all the current divisibility in bitcoin with room for 2 digits after the decimal place representing Satoshis, the same as all other world currencies.
It removes the need to make this change again in the future until bitcoin is so valuable/scarce that everyone agrees to hardfork to add more decimal places out of need for divisibility.
Bits is easy to remember, has loads of historic significance, and it just plain fun to say: Here's your two bits you bum!
If we have to make a change to the most used primary unit let's just do it this one time, it's pretty clear that the longer bitcoin exists the more resistant it becomes to any kind of change.
