I had that topic in another thread, maybe a good reminder for more people.

Every program or script which targets Bitcoin enthusiasts should be executed very carefully. Imagine to have control over a program that runs on several thousand Bitcoin enthusiasts computers. How many of those own Bitcoins? Scan the computer for a wallet, keylog until you have the password, profit.

I personally would have to read a script and understand it by myself, before executing it. A Bitcoin-centered linux distribution? It's so complex, I couldn't ever trust it and would have to compile it by myself instead.

If you run any Bitcoin software, only use software you trust the developers. Verify the checksum. Verify the PGP-keys.

Better yet: run software in VMs. Better better yet: run your wallet and other critical programs in its own, secured VM. Qubes OS is a linux distribution which is based on that principle. It makes it very easy and secure, after setting it up once.
